Boating Safety Officers on parade
Some of the Boating Safety Officers are members of the National Weather Bureau, Emergency System Network that provides weather alerts effecting the Lower Colorado River, Lake Havasu Area. When weather advisories and alerts are recieved from the National Weather Service, the information (advisories/alerts) are broadcast on the Emergency Marine Frequency Channel 16.

This information is also broadcast on a local repeater maintained by the National Weather Service on Marine Channel 2 (Frequency 162.400) Check our weather link for more information.

Lake Havasu has commerical agencies that monitor marine channel 16 & 20 and provide emergency service to boaters. These agencies provide a valuable support as they operate on a 24 hr basis. They also have cell phone capability and advertise their phone numbers. There are also Tour Boat Agencies with ports of call in the Bridgewater Channel that monitor these frequencies and have proved to be effective with supporting emergency boating traffic.
