The Boat and Dock Maintenance Team meets every third Saturday of the Month to do scheduled maintenance. We meet at 0800 and normally finish in a couple of hours, depending on how many Boating Safety Officers show up.
Boat & Dock Maintenance
The Docks are patched and/or segments replaced as a result of degradation.
Cleaning of the docks and boats is a regular detail as the birds (ducks) use the dock as their home at night and of course leave evidence that they were there. We have 2 power washers we use for cleaning, one is gas driven and the other is electric powered. Brushes, brooms and cleaning supplies are located in the MCSO Dock Cabinet. The cabinet has a combination lock and the # is located in the operations room.
We normally do a Boat Dock Cleaning the thursday prior to the holiday week ends.
Home Depot donated a freezer to store ice used when going on Patrol. We normally have gator ade and Wal-Mart donates bottled water. We currently procure the ice, so when going on patrol the ice is a $1 a bag. Insert the money into the container provided.
The Sheriff maintains a vehicle (line unit) at Contact Point to support operations and is used for boat launch and retrieve, trailering patrol boats to and from maintenance, prisioner and trustee Transport as well as other activities. BSO must be certified in Prisioner Transport & Restraint and/or Defensive Driving prior to preforming these duities.
State Parks provides for the Contact Point Facility infrastructure i.e, outside restroom servicing, evaporative cooler service, outside lighting, weed abatement around the Operations Building, Outside Restoom and walkway to the Docks, etc.
